The Warsaw Chamber Opera announces auditions for the Warsaw Chamber Opera’s Period Instruments Orchestra MUSICAE ANTIQUAE COLLEGIUM VARSOVIENSE
for the position of:
BASSOON
The audition will take place on 22nd April 2025 at the Basen Artystyczny Stage of the Warsaw Chamber Opera (6 Marii Konopnickiej Street, 00-491 Warsaw).

- completed and signed application form – Appendix No. 1 to the Regulations (downloadable from the Warsaw Chamber Opera website) with the mandatory clause concerning consent to the processing of personal data, as follows:
“I consent to the processing of my personal data by the Warsaw Chamber Opera, located at 31 Obrońców Street in Warsaw, contained in my recruitment application form for the purposes of the current recruitment”
The subject line of the email must include the candidate’s first and last name as well as the note: “Audition: BASSOON”.
Audition programme:
The programme must be performed on both the Baroque and Classical bassoon. A break is allowed between the sections performed on these instruments. A harpsichord and pianoforte will be at the disposal.
I. For Baroque Bassoon (a1=415 Hz) with harpsichord:
Pieces composed for bassoon (or another bass instrument) with continuo. The candidate is free to choose the repertoire takin into account the following guidelines:
- Two slow movements, e.g., taken from different Baroque solo sonatas with b.c. (please bring copies of the sheet music):
- one in the French style
- one in the Italian style
II. Orchestral Excerpts for Baroque bassoon (a1=415 Hz):
- J. S. Bach: BWV 1066 Overture, Part 1, vol. 27-32, 48-77
- G. F. Haendel: HWV 7 Rinaldo, Aria Venti, venti turbini prestate
III. For Classical bassoon (a1=430 Hz) with pianoforte:
- W. A. Mozart: KV 191 Concerto per fagotto, Part II, Andante ma adagio, vol. 1-27
IV. Orchestral Excerpts for Classical bassoon (a1=430 Hz), first bassoon part:

Pieces composed for bassoon (or other bass instrument) plus continuo. The candidate may freely choose the pieces, taking into account the following guidelines:

- Performance (piano playing with vocal parts) of the following excerpts of the W. A. Mozart’s operas:
• Le nozze di Figaro – Finale of Act II
• Die Zauberflöte – Quintet Wie? Wie? Wie? Ihr an diesem Schreckensort?
- Presentation of a freely chosen solo piano piece of an advanced level of difficulty.
- Sight-reading of excerpts from piano reductions (opera and cantata-oratorio repertoire composed before 1840).
- Working with a singer and a conductor (sheet music will be provided to qualified candidates by 15 April 2025).
