Within the historic interiors and picturesque surroundings of Baliński Palace, music of the highest calibre will once again fill the air. For years, the festival “Music at Baliński Palace in Jašiūnai” has attracted music lovers, becoming a unique meeting place for history, nature, and the arts, as well as a symbol of the fruitful cooperation between the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society and the Šalčininkai District Municipality Cultural Centre.

One of the highlights of this year’s edition will be the concert “Baroque in the Rhythm of Tango”, where music of the 17th and 18th centuries meets the passionate rhythms of South America. This extraordinary musical journey leads from works by Antonio Vivaldi, Henry Purcell, George Frideric Handel, and Claudio Monteverdi to Consuelo Velázquez’s timeless “Bésame Mucho” and Ástor Piazzolla’s passionate “Libertango.”

Taking the stage will be the Warsaw Chamber Opera Period Instrument Orchestra – Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense (MACV), one of Poland’s leading ensembles specializing in historically informed performance. The orchestra will be conducted by Miłosz Korpol, while the solo parts will be performed by the outstanding artists Dorota Szczepańska (soprano) and Jakub Monowid (countertenor).

The carefully curated programme guides listeners from Baroque overtures, virtuosic arias, and operatic duets, through passionate Spanish songs, to iconic melodies of the 20th century. It brings together different eras and styles, demonstrating that music knows no boundaries and can create a fascinating dialogue between tradition and modernity.

The concert will last approximately 70 minutes and will once again demonstrate that the Jašiūnai festival is a place for exceptional encounters between artists from Lithuania and abroad, while Baliński Palace continues to serve as a venue dedicated to culture of the highest artistic standard.
