Filip Wojciechowski
A versatile and constantly searching pianist, equally at ease in the worlds of classical and jazz music. He graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, where he studied piano under Professor Bronisława Kawalla. He is a laureate of many prestigious piano competitions, including the Claude Kahn Competition in Paris, the European Chopin Competition in Darmstadt, and the 13th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, where he received a special award.

He has performed around the world in renowned venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Monte Carlo Opera, and Tokyo International Forum. He has been awarded scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and Art, the Fryderyk Chopin Society, Yamaha, and received the “Young Art Medal” in Poznań. His numerous recordings include sessions for Polish Radio and Television as well as releases for labels such as Denon (Japan) and DUX (Poland).

Alongside his classical career, he has also developed an active jazz career. He co-founded Central Heating Trio, which won several prizes including 1st Prize at the Jazz Juniors competition in Kraków, the “Key to Career” award at the Pomeranian Jazz Autumn Festival, and the award for the best performance of a required piece in Hoeilaart (Belgium). He has performed with artists such as Zbigniew Namysłowski, Gary Guthman, Krzesimir Dębski, and Richard Galliano.

In 2000, he formed the Filip Wojciechowski Trio, together with Paweł Pańta and Cezary Konrad. The trio has released albums including Classic Jazz (Berlin) and Romantic Meets Jazz (DUX), featuring jazz transcriptions of classical music with guest trumpeter Robert Majewski.

In 2010, to mark the Chopin Year, he released the album Chopin (Polish Radio) with jazz arrangements of Chopin’s works. A year later, he presented his original project Moments, recorded with Gary Guthman, Marcin Kajper, the Polish Sinfonia Baltica Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Bohdan Jarmołowicz, and members of his trio.

His interpretations—both classical and jazz—have been widely praised by critics for their extraordinary musicality, sensitivity, technical precision, and the originality of his style.

“Brahms, Chopin, Schumann”

“Filip Wojciechowski’s performances are non-trivial, unconventional, fully original, vivid, and artistically mature. What is particularly enchanting in his playing is the warm, soft tone, the refined performance style, excellent understanding of form and timing, and the strength of attack while maintaining noble sound…”
— Marcin Łukaszewski, Muzyka 21

“A virtuosic interpretation of Chopin’s works—deeply lyrical and astonishingly precise in technique, almost lace-like…”
— Gazeta Wyborcza, Poznań

“A wonderful, nuanced dialogue with the orchestra in Beethoven’s E-flat major concerto…”
— Der Bund, Bern

“A storm of applause followed the performance of Chopin’s Variations in B-flat major, Op. 2 (La ci darem la mano). The admiration only grew after the encore—a jazz improvisation on the same piece…”
— Der Tagesspiegel, Berlin
