Between Baroque, pop, and a touch of jazz, a unique trio meets to place the form of the musical lamento at the heart of their program. But this is no ordinary lament – it’s one in which every listener may find a piece of themselves.
In a recital lasting over an hour, inspired in part by Christina Pluhar and L’Arpeggiata, the artists serve up an exciting palette of shades, flavors, and rhythms, crafting a masterful musical fusion. Polish soprano Dorota Szczepańska, Israeli lutenist Alon Sariel, and German jazz double bassist Peter Schwebs embarked on an intensive artistic search to present a captivating blend that transcends genre boundaries.
The result is a concert made up of several interwoven chapters that showcase the lamento as a timeless, diverse, and richly nuanced phenomenon.
Thanks to the performers’ creative and tasteful arrangements, it feels perfectly natural that Handel, Monteverdi, Purcell, and Stradella share the stage with Sting, Adele, Bob Telson, and even a song from a video game.
Renowned Polish film composer Krzysztof A. Janczak has composed Miranda’s Lament, based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest, specifically for this project – adding a fresh, seamlessly integrated piece to the repertoire.
Join us for over an hour of pure musical passion!
